Getting Austin: a rom-com novella

Tess is single, thirty-seven, and has had multiple sclerosis for seven years. She's slowly given up trying to navigate the dating scene with her condition and feels less attractive now that she's using a cane. Now a recurring dream is mocking her single status and her failed relationships.
Enter Austin, a thirty-two-year-old law student who helps her widowed mom with yard work. Tess finds him attractive, and the two soon have a budding friendship.
Troubled by her dream, Tess decides that she needs to boost her feelings of desirability, so she hatches a plan to get Austin to sleep with her. She asks her younger sister Emily to talk to him for her, and Emily botches things. Tess ends up "hanging out" with Austin, who isn't picking up her romantic signals, causing Tess to throw in the towel. Then Emily criticizes Tess's handling of relationships, leaving her sullen.
But Tess soon learns that attraction isn't so biased, and that like MS, love is unpredictable.
