Today the neighborhood of Getseman is threatened by the diseases of modern cities, which day by day are deteriorating what was once strong and moving what was once immobile. If there is still the desire to remain in time in this piece of walled land, then it is necessary to make an effort to reconstruct its memory, its history and its reason for being in the future of Cartagena.The interest to undertake this research is preceded by the history of my ancestors, my grandparents, my parents and my brothers, who were and still are an active part of Getseman .Within this interest it is necessary to understand that the neighborhood of Getseman is not only urban structure, buildings and statistics, it is above them, the people, the family; it is the person who learned to confabulate with the history, with the urban structure, with the architecture, in short, with the space.Santa Fe de Bogot , February 1993.
