Very pleasantly surprised

I bought the book originally because it was only a few dollars so I figured it wouldn't be too big a loss if it was as bad as all of the other grammar books I'd seen. Actually, the book is impressingly comprehensive. Beginners will need additional material to really teach themselves of course, but if you only want to have all of the important rules spelled out in plain english, this is a great book. If you're looking to really dig in and have lots of detail about every rule, you'll need one of those gigantic grammar books. Overall, I'd say this book is wonderful and has really cleared up some misty concepts for me. Good luck

Best Way To Start

The grammar books in the "Teach Yourself" series are outstanding. They start from the very basics and work through all the grammar you would learn in several years of courses. In fact, you may want to use this book before a general course, as it sets the basis for learning the language and includes a fair amount of vocabulary and such anyway.

Simultaneously comprehensive and concise, this is a book I recommend to any student of German grammar.

Very helpful grammar

I have been studying German for a few years now, and I find this book very helpful. This particular book deals with grammar much more thoroughly than other books in the Teach Yourself series. the grammar is thoroughly explained with examples and charts. I highly recommend this book.
