This book is not for the casual reader or first-year German student.
Published by bernie4444 , 5 months ago
The book is divided into two parts. The first part contains essays on literary topics of history and culture from the 18th century to 1969. The second part contains scientific writing.
The writing is all in German. However, each page has footnotes on dozens of words used in context. There is a huge vocabulary section for the words that did not make it into the footnotes.
Each essay has numbers for paragraphs and specific locations for looking up and reference.
If this does not look like a textbook at first, then, of particular interest are an index on methods of tracking complicated German constructions, and an ample selection of exercises, including multiple-choice questions in English, keyed to specific passages so that the student can test their comprehension.
