These notes have been taken by the author during a lecture given by the late Dr.G. Bertramat the Polytechnical Institute in Hannover several decades ago. They contain the necessarytools for understanding e.g. general relativity , such a s Gauss -Riemann surface theory andRicci calculus . In order to be faithful to the source, the original notations ,like gothic lettersfor vectors, have been preserved. Clearly , these notes cannot replace a textbook and somefamiliarity with the subject is therefore required for the reader.
