Geological deterioration and conservation of sandstone and limestone

The purpose of the study is to examine the manifestations of deterioration and decay forms of limestone (Hatshepsut temple) and Sandstone (Habu temple), and attempt to classify the deterioration phenomena and how to treat this. Thorough examination of stone, Limestone and Sandstone located in the construction of ancient buildings, such as Hatshepsut temple and Habu Temple. And study the deterioration factors which cause the deterioration and stone decay. Processing samples and slicing and dicing uniform size and also cutting slices to study the petrography under polarizing microscope. Selection available consolidated materials (Ethylsilicate-Paraloid B 44 - Paraloid B72 - Wacker OH 100) and discusses the advantage of each material to each type of sand after treatment process. Discussion the physical properties (such as porosity and water absorption) and mechanical properties to indicate the improvement case due to consolidation processes. The work necessary tests of Energy Dispersive X-Ray (EDX), Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM), X-Ray Diffraction (X-RAY) and discussing the results of the examination and analysis were selected treatment material.
