Gauntlet

By: Overbey, J. R.

THEY TOOK HIS FAMILY. THEY SHOULD HAVE TAKEN HIM FIRST.

Sloan Presson has spent years promising himself that the life he has built is not a lie. That he is not the same violent man he was when he was in the U.S. Marine Corps, or while operating in the private security sector. When signs of his past begin to surface, he disregards them in hopes that he can sustain the perfect life of being a quiet husband and father. After his wife and daughter are taken while he is away on a business trip, the facade shatters all around him.

The people who took his family think they have nothing to worry about from a washed-up veteran. What they have done is awaken the man inside. Sloan's dark and violent thoughts that he has tried to bury for years become the personified version of who he truly believes he is: an evil, warmongering being not worth the love of his family or God's redemption. In an intercontinental battle between one man and a hidden network of criminals and warlords, he will do whatever it takes to rid his family of this ever-growing threat. Even if that means he must become something even he is afraid of.

Gauntlet is the explosive debut of the Sloan Presson Series, a relentless thriller of duality, faith, and the price of violence. For fans of Jack Carr and Gregg Hurwitz.
