Gator and Pete

I love this book and have given it as a gift to several friends that have children. The charming story teaches the important lesson that by being open to those that are different from you can lead to making new friends. Also, the illustrations are lovely and have a special depth to them that you don't often see in children's books.

GREAT new story, GREAT illustrator

I've read this book to dozens of children (I'm a therapist) - The story is simple, engaging and with adorable illustrations. 3-6 year olds have been captivated, enjoying the story over and over again.

Great for children

My nieces ages 5 and 7 1/2 loved this book for the spunky animals and clever prose, and I liked it for the underlying message about appreciating and honoring those who are different from ourselves. I'm looking forward to reading Blue Ribbon Gator!

Gator and Pete Are Delightful

As a father of six children, I've looked at plenty of children's books. Suzanne McGovern's tale of Gator and Pete in "Gator and Pete-More Alike Than It Seems" makes an important point for both children and adult readers about friendships. Similar interests are the foundation of lasting friendships, not how similar our appearances are. Donna Bizjak's illustrations are the perfect complement to the text and make this book a delightful read for any age. You'll be adding this book to your favorites list, too.

My children love it...and so do I

I don't know who loves "Gator and Pete" more -- me or my children! All three of us were delighted by this heartwarming story about a horse and a turtle who discover that they're "More Alike Than It Seems." In a time when children are exposed to so much violence, the innocence this book portrays and the lesson it teaches are very refreshing. Its clever rhymes make it particularly fun to read out loud as a parent. And my 7-year old son loves reading it to his younger brother, too. The beautiful illustrations are rich and detailed--you discover something new in them each time you look at them. This one's a keeper.
