"Gathering Woodstock Women" began as an exhibit offered by the Historical Society of Woodstock during the summer of 2017. Offered initially as a celebration of the 100th anniversary of women in New York State receiving the right to vote, the exhibit quickly became a powerful statement on the important roles women have played throughout Woodstock's unique history. Within these pages are the stories of many remarkable Woodstock women who have led the Woodstock community in the arts, government and in constructing the sense of community that lies at the heart of Woodstock's foundation. Their stories represent an independent spirit that has spanned more than two centuries - and continues today.
