Gathering of Lies

Graduating from college was monumental for me, coming from a struggling, broken family. I not only earned my degree but also gained two sorority sisters who became like family. We promised to reunite every two years, despite our divergent paths. Our next reunion looms, and I'm dreading their pity when they discover my career's collapse and my fianc 's betrayal-he gambled away my savings. I've hit rock bottom and envy how easily things seem to come to my friends.

Desperate, I convince my attractive neighbor to pose as my fianc for a week. I don't even like him, but he's handsome and a good actor. The plan is simple: a week of fake smiles and hand-holding, then part ways. In return, I help him network with high rollers. It's all pretend, and falling for him isn't part of the deal-or so I keep telling myself.

As the lines blur between reality and pretense, I wonder if I can maintain this charade, or will my heart will betray me. Only time will tell.
