Art, also known as visual art to differentiate it from other types of art, is a conscious creation of a visual object or experience through the expression of skill or imagination. Painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, decorative arts, photography, and installation are all included in the category of art.
The different visual expressions exist inside a continuum that reaches from simply tasteful purposes toward one side to simply utilitarian purposes at the other. The terms "artist" and "artisan" are frequently used to describe people who put a lot of emphasis on the practical aspect of their work. However, this should not be interpreted as a rigid plan.
