Kathleen S. Dickason, Garden Styles (Publications International Ltd., 1996) We've been living in our house for two and a half years now, and there's a plot that should be a garden at the edge of the house on the front lawn. It's a mess. We cleaned it up earlier this year, but had no idea what to plant in it. Kathleen Dickason to the rescue! (At least it's not Asterix and Obelix this time. We'd have a wild boar bush and a bunch of menhirs.) The premise of Garden Styles is simple: briefly describe various types of garden layouts, and then show a good number of examples, giving the details of many of the plants used at the end of each section. The pictures are gorgeous and well-composed, and the text is clear, concise, and informative. The only problem now is that I've got so many ideas about what to do with that little strip of ground that I'm not sure what to try first. ****
