I took a gap year. Most people take a gap year after their high school and before starting university. I am different. I was taking my gap year after completing my second year. I wanted a different experience and to earn some money to tide me through my third year so that I didn't leave university with huge debts. I was going to spend the summer looking after a friend's farm in France whilst he visited friends and family in UK. I had worked on farms before. I was young. I was confident. I was naïve. There would be a lot of challenges including looking after livestock that as the person on the ground without support would have to make a lot of executive decisions and live with the consequences. On my return to UK, I was going to enrol on a course to enhance my skills in order to earn more money. Before my work began, I would host a canal trip. I was setting some high targets. A lot could go wrong. Would everything work out as planned?
