Salute!

I had no idea there could be such a fascinating and intriguing history behind the bottle of Ernest and Julio Gallo Wine that was sitting in my refrigerator. "Gallo Be Thy Name - The Inside Story of How One Family Rose To Dominate the U.S. Wine Market" makes such a great story it's difficult to think it's not fiction. My mind was full of black and white images of characters I'm seen in old ganster movies from the 30's and 40's. Such a corporate history unlike any I've ever seen or heard of before. Jerome Tuccille has done an excellent job of putting together a never boring tale of the E & J Gallo winery, Thunderbird, Al Capone, labor strikes and labor movements, and Coca-Cola. A book you'll be glued to from cover to cover. Better start reading it on the weekend because your boss won't be happy if he catches you reading it hidden inside one of those file folders. It is that good. This is a book I hope Hollywood takes a look at.

Irresistible Saga

Jerome Tuccille has authored the definitive account of the most important and underappreciated winemakers of the past 100 years. More impressive, he has penned an irresistible saga about immigration, Prohibition, organized crime, big business, and even bigger government. Nick Gillespie, Editor in Chief, Reason.tv

A Gripping Family Drama

Better than a movie! This gripping family drama is complete with deaths, accidents, and tragedy. The story begins with the parents of Ernest and Julio, the famed brothers who found fortune in the wine business. Their own story is a great lesson for students of business: they made huge financial investments in new plant and equipment during the Great Depression -- what must have seemed like incredible risk-taking to most businessmen at the time. Very well written, this book is in the "very readable" category.
