The encounters with aliens include those on her ship. As with Firefly, there is an element of humor throughout the book. A few instances are sure to bring a smile but it is not intended to be "funny". It is more like a good book you cuddle up with on a rainy day and enjoy. Not too serious, not silly, with exotic worlds to explore and battles to win.
