Indeed, Paul's first letter to the believers in Corinth is a gift to our contemporary generation of churches, like looking into a mirror. In this letter Paul addresses most of the controversial subjects that are rocking our churches today, especially the charismatic churches of our times. This letter from the apostle focused on many practical topics on which he laid out several wise counsels and instructions in order to bring correction on their many flawed practices, such as:

- Division in the ranks of the churches along the lines of their prominent leaders.

- The church's allurement to worldly (esoteric) wisdom, and a shift of gospel emphasis to what was more appealing to the flesh.

- Competition among ministry leaders based on earthly ministry accomplishments.

- The nature of true apostleship versus arrogant grand-standing
The scourge of sexual immorality in the church, and the subject of church discipline.

- Paul's address to the married, the single, the divorced or widowed, along with his counsel regarding celibacy and transiting from single to married state.

- The subject of Christian liberties against the backdrop of eating foods sacrificed to idols.

- The proper role of women in the church with respect to head covering.

- Paul brings correction to their observance of the Lord's Supper which had suffered from drastic abusive practices.

- Paul addressed the subject of spiritual gifts and their proper use within church congregations.

- A detailed expos on the subject of resurrection to counter the spread of false teachings.

- Paul gives guidance to this church for the collection and administration of their financial gifts intended towards projects of generosity.

We direly need to scratch beyond the surface of this Pauline epistle to benefit from the apostle's inspired instructions both for the benefit of the church in Corinth and for the community of churches across our world today.
