Enjoy the views from the outdoor Hakone art museum that features major pieces by Henry Moore and Picasso. The travels in Japan include the super-fast bullet-trains (Shinkansen) to horseback in ceremonies at the Imperial palace. The beauty of Japan is captured in the smiling faces and lonely temples. Sometimes a simple stone water basin becomes art. This is my favorite photo. The Tokyo Tower is seen from many faces and sides as this historic radio beacon still commands respect from its neighbors. Stop time. That is what photography does. But in Japan the subjects of old villages are also stuck in time. Come enjoy the juxtapositions of Japanese big city life to the peaceful gardens. The Imperial Palace surprised me recently when horse drawn carriages drew my eye and as I ran along the route I kept being so pleased. Once on the palace grounds the tourists got a special treat and I got some great shots. Timeless symbols abound in Japan. From Shrines to Temples to city streets. The mixture of age and new, beauty and concrete bound on each page. My family provides comic relief as we hop trains, buses, taxis and walk the city and countryside. From Tokyo you can be in pure green in 2 hours. In 4 hours you can start to be in places that feel untouched. Local, national, foreign, Japanese, modern and classic art is everywhere in Japan. It happens in the most unlikely places, even when in the middle of a museum. Burning worship cabinets from deceased in front of the great temple shadowed by Tokyo Tower. It is Japan, but the Chinese, Pilipino influences are undeniable. 60 years of American occupation make this a California zipcode, including palm trees Geisha and Maiko do exist in Modern Japan. I only capture a few, but the Grass Hut village with terraced rice paddies command respect in the many pages dedicated here. Crowds, train stations and more. People are everywhere going about their business. When they catch my camera's eye they smile wide. Sometimes, will then pass by and speak French and really screw up where you think you are. Japan is modern, metro, old, refreshing and still changing. Entropy is only the population growth. Japanese society is moving forward with a great pace and will continue to do so. Roppongi, Tokyo is featured often as that is where I live while in town. They look like hookers, but it's just the local fashion. The rebellion takes place at 11. Photos at noon.
