Gadabouts in Manchester and Liverpool: via Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham

What better time to arrange a circular train tour of five British cities than when the entire rail network is about to announce it's going on strike! Undeterred, we switch transport mode to our trusty Mini Cooper and set off on a six-day excursion to discover Manchester and Liverpool, two places we have never visited before.

As part of our circular trip, we'll be taking in Sheffield, Derby and Nottingham, too. It's going to be a hectic schedule.

Armed with a thirst for knowledge and a backpack full of treasure hunts, we set out to uncover the character of each of these cities.

Inevitably, things don't always go to plan. Along the way, you can eavesdrop on our tussles with Trainline, Travelodge and NCP car parks, all part of the spice of life.
