Professor Henry Peller is on the Moon. He and his colleague Doctor Herman Callas are confronting the most bizarre circumstances in the history of space exploration. Lunar Biosphere One, a privately funded research facility, has suffered a homicide and two suicides. The civil engineer and the psychiatrist are determined to save the Western moonbase from further humiliation, but the nearby Chinese moonbase has started a mining operation. Professor Peller's contempt for his Eastern rivals is exacerbated by frustration with his fellow Westerners. The professor has reason to believe the two highest ranking officers on the Western moonbase are planning a wedding. Commander Jack Makon and Lieutenant Frank Balder would like to make an extraterrestrial statement. Professor Peller, with the help of Doctor Callas, is committed to restoring order at Lunar Biosphere One and fulfilling the clandestine mission for which he was inspired by rogue elements in the United States Government.
