Dr. Kate is a present day Veterinarian facing the rocky transition from dedicated student to passionate practitioner. When she rescues a severely injured fuzzy brown puppy, who shows Kate only love and trust despite his recent torture, it somehow cracks her hard earned protective barrier and opens her up to receive the love and support she richly deserves. Even then she doesn't learn Dagger's real name, which seems fair because her name isn't really Kate.
