Future Schools offers an in-depth analysis of our current educational crisis and a comprehensive blueprint for change. Dixon proposes innovative, often controversial, but always common-sense reforms in such hotly debated areas as testing, de-streaming, teaching methods, and the curriculum. He also provides a much needed view of the bigger picture, placing these issues within the context of children's rights, and their roles in society, present and future.
Educators will find the essential path to the future here.

This text should be mandatory reading for all practicingeducators, from Primary to Post-Graduate levels. No student in anyEducation faculty should graduate without having written a comprehensive review of the Future described by Des Dixon. Trustees and elected school officials should be obliged to take a stand on the direction suggested by Dixon, and should either support it wholeheartedly or produce a convincing and compelling thesis to refute it, before being eligible to stand for public office. If public education continues to receive the onslaught of negative publicity that is the current trend, and no concerted public awareness is developed for Dixon's evolutionary vision, then there is no doubt that Corporate interests, for their own survival, will move into the void that exists in current Public Education. Curriculum Reform is not the answer, it is but a part of what is needed, but most important is the need to realise that major changes in terms of the delivery systems must occur now. More of the same is simply not good enough ! Des Dixon provides a viable blueprint, solidly referenced and researched, that must be considered post-haste.
