In the not too distant past there may have been only a single wage-earner and a corresponding homemaker. As a result, a wide variety of home-cooked dishes at the dinner table became the norm. With the advent of two income families, meal preparation has turned out to be less convenient, and many of us have taken to eating more meals in restaurants or relying on the grocery store for frozen dinners. But there is a delicious alternative, and that is easier-to-prepare meals. Some of the included recipes have been handed down from my mother's great playbook. Another few of them have been graciously donated by friends. Others have simply evolved from my being lazy. So it is my propensity for not wanting to spend any more time on a project than is necessary that is the impetus for this cookbook.Over time I have accumulated a number of recipes that are conducive to being prepared in a single vessel, and I have reworked others to fit into this helpful pattern. The result is a Fun With Food cookbook that simplifies food preparation while reducing the arduous and annoying cleanup to (usually) a single pot or pan, and possibly a serving dish. Of course I had to include some interesting desert and drink recipes to round out the evening meal.
