Our inner goal, which set the direction for the outward goal in the search for possible routes, was strongly influenced by the longing, for untouched, unchanging landscape. We sought, as it were, for the permanent behind the transitory form or for the imperishable in the transient. Comparable to the desert experiences of ancient Christian hermit monks hundreds of years ago, our image of Frozen Latitudes complemented with a spiritual dimension: how does each one of us deal with the experience of loneliness and being on his own?
