Insider advice on how to best experience the natural wonders of Bryce Canyon and Zion National Parks, where to spend the ski season, and the most relaxing way to take in Lake Powell (hint: houseboat). Where to find the best hiking trails, ski resorts, and scenic vistas, from Salt Lake City to the Wasatch Mountains. Insightful commentary on Utah's stunning national parks, monuments, and architectural highlights, plus an in-depth discussion of its first inhabitants, Native Americans, and its unique pioneer history. Opinionated reviews. No bland descriptions and lukewarm recommendations. Our expert writers are passionate about their destinations--they tell it like it is in an engaging and helpful way. Exact prices listed for every establishment and activity--no other guides offer such detailed, candid reviews of hotels and restaurants. We include the very best, but also emphasize moderately priced choices for real people. User-friendly features including star ratings and special icons to point readers to great finds, excellent values, insider tips, best bets for kids, special moments, and overrated experiences.
This is a good general book if you intend to make a wide ranging tour of Utah and National and State Parks/Monuments and other sires. It is light on specifics but will help you locate areas of interest and accommodations in those areas. However, for specific information on hiking and unusual sites you will need other references.

I was disappointed that there was not any information about the Bear River Migratory Bird Refuge in Brigham City. This is a star in Utah and is an IBA (Important Bird Area). It also is designated as a Western Hemisphere Shorebird Reserve Network Site, a globally important shorebird area. The Great Salt Lake boasts the largest fall staging concentration of Wilson's Phalaropes at approx. 500,000 birds, nearly 100,000 Red-necked Phalaropes.A Presidential Proclamation established the Refuge in 1928, so it is very historic in Utah. The Bear River is the largest fresh water component of the Salt Lake System. The Refuge contains over 74,000 acres of marsh, open water, uplands and alkali mudflats.Possibly it was in a previous edition, but is certainly worthy of a mention.
