The story happens on the rural outskirts of the Eastern Cape in South Africa, where marital abductions are still practised and witchcraft is the order of the day. It's in 1941. Thembsy's marital abduction creates havoc and chaos as the search for her abductors starts frantically. Thembsy's grandfather's task of finding out which family abducted Thembsy is a fruitless endeavour as he goes from pillar to post. He does uncover some clues, but how valid will they be? How is Thembsy's introduction to her new family going to be like? Will she like her man? She receives a new name, Khwezi, as tradition dictates. A palpable relief as everyone discovers who the abductors are. Her husband is Khaya, Nozi and Styebi's son. Khwezi's parents are Wonga and Zukile. Zukile deserted his family after discovering that his father, Velile, fathered his children after Zukile learned that he can't have children. A plan orchestrated by Nomalahle. Khwezi's wedding might bring Zukile home, but will he come? The news reaches Zukile and he has a decision to make. Will he forgive Wonga and Velile for what they did to him? Nomalahle, a grandmother to Khwezi, picked Khwezi when she was born as heiress to her witchcraft. Will this be a deal-breaker between Khwezi and her new family? Will Khaya discover that his new wife practises witchcraft? There's something in the works about Styebi and Velile. Nomalahle falls for Styebi as it turns out that Velile doesn't love her anymore. Velile is attracted to Wonga. The witchcraft congregations are about sacrifices and introductions. Nomalahle has made some big sacrifices in the past, quite shocking to Khwezi. During the ceremony of taking Khwezi's clothes to her new home, Nomalahle and Styebi have an encounter. Nozi's struggling to contain Styebi, whose well-endowed lust is getting out of hand. Will Nozi leave Styebi? Will Nomalahle be the last straw that breaks the camel's back? The first leg of the wedding becomes a huge success. Styebi and Nomalahle get to know each other better. Nozi ambushes Styebi and he admits to his crime. Velile comforts Styebi and discovers something huge about them both. How will the family react to their discovery? Will Nomalahle bewitch Styebi? The second leg of the wedding becomes a 'wedding of the year 1941'. Khwezi takes over from Nomalahle as the Queen of evil worshippers and she makes the biggest sacrifice in the history of their evil cult. Khwezi's first sacrifice becomes the route through which she executes her plan. Khwezi's number of sacrifices creates the funeral of the century. Will her sacrifices bury her family secrets forever?
