What most people forget when you mention you are in Show-Business is that the second part of Show-Business is BUSINESS. In order to be a success in show-business on must have a talent and one must also have a basic knowledge of that business. You must know how to network, sell, and market. I as a humorist have the toughest job of all, I have to sell myself every day. I have to sell myself to speaker's bureaus. I have to sell myself to meeting planners. I have to sell myself to companies and organization that want to book a speaker for their event. And, I have to sell myself to the audience every time I stand up in front of them and speak. It is far easier to sell a product or service than it is to sell oneself. If I can sell my talent and myself then that makes me a pretty good businessman.
