This book is a collection of interviews that discusses the prospects for economic reform in the USSR and Eastern Europe. The interviews were conducted by Keith Bush with academics, think-tank economists, bankers, businessmen, accountants, and officials of international organizations in the United States and the United Kingdom. They were subsequently adapted and broadcast to an estimated 40 million listeners in the Soviet Union and Eastern Europe. All the specialists interviewed here have both a keen interest in the processes taking place in the Soviet Union and wide-ranging experience in dealing with Soviet economic issues. While most of the discussions focus on the Soviet Union, we also obtain insights into and analyses of reform processes in other countries of Central Europe, particularly Germany, Poland and Hungary. Keith Bush was the Director of Radio Liberty Research for 15 years and is now a member of the newly created RFE/RL Research Institute.
