I read this book because I was a student of "Madame" Gagarine at Chatham Hall around 1950. It is beautifully written, and a wonderful story of living through very bad times and making a good life for yourself.
A sweet little book, just a pleasure to read

This is a delightful little book, very well written and very charming. It tells the story of a Russian princess who escapes the Revolution and eventually settles in America to become a teacher. She is upbeat, courageous, and humble. She demonstrates, throughout her life, what the word "noble" really means.
