About the Author: Patti is a professional forester, mother to Kai and Naomi, her children, and wife to Peter, a senior civil servant. She was born in Guelph, Ontario and lived in rural and urban Ontario and Alberta before moving to British Columbia, where she has lived for over thirty years. She has always enjoyed sports, currently plays underwater hockey, and cycles 15 km to and from work. In 2008, when she was 52, she spent three months cycling across Canada, sometimes alone, often with partners
