A former English cavalry officer and committed Jacobean Highlander, who fought on opposite sides at the Battle of Culloden, unexpectedly find themselves living as neighbours in adjacent valleys in the heart of the sparsely populated Highlands of Scotland. Emotions run high and as both enterprises continue to prosper, the divide and bitterness between the neighbours grows wider as the years progress. The hostility continues through the generations, much to the detriment of their offspring and grandchildren.
