We follow three girls from youth to death through the eyes of an old lady and a frustrated woman entering menopause who eventually takes her home. We see discrimination, domestic violence, protection, lies, cancer as a kiss of death, but we also see how three girls look out for each other over the years and ease them through bad husbands, death, accidents and a murder. Its most definitely a girls movie and one you might want to watch with your Mom if you are from the 1950's. Very much follows an old movie called the Whistle Stop from the 1930's. The only confusing thing is who is the Bee Lady? Is it Izzy and if so, why don't we see the narrator as a young girl. We only really see the 2 girls throughout the flashbacks.
