The themes of the Masonic quest and adventure provide common ground for this collection. They are excursions into the calling, the instruction and the joy of Freemasonry and have been gathered from the author's life time experience as an active member of the Craft. Many of the following offerings appeared originally as talks or articles, and in such cases the piece is preceded with a brief introductory note. The earliest of these was published as the Masonic Service Association's Short Talk Bulletin for June, 1967, and the latest appeared in the August issue of Northern Light, 2009 . Added to these longer pieces are shorter offerings which have been taken from unpublished talks and essays written and/or delivered over the past fifty years. Each selection is intended as a testimony to the power and goodness of Freemasonry. Each attempts to hold the Masonic experience up like a gem and to turn it ever so slightly so that a facet sends forth its flashing color. Taken together there is a philosophical position expressed in this collection which, it is most earnestly hoped, will find resonance in the expanding experience of young Masons in a new generation.
