The author, Luke Hendrickson, experienced the constraints of addiction to drugs and alcohol for many years. My involvement in the music scene and a lifestyle marked by excess often resulted in encounters with law enforcement and a cycle of defeat. I was compelled to seek treatment in secular rehabilitation facilities and adhere to the twelve steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. While the twelve steps can be beneficial when followed as originally intended, they become spiritually unproductive if they do not foster faith in Jesus Christ. In response to this need, I felt called by God to develop a step program grounded in Scripture, ultimately leading to complete salvation through Jesus Christ. This is where true transformation begins. Although Christians are bestowed with a new spirit, we must acknowledge the ongoing struggle with our flesh. However, we now have the capacity to prevent our sinful nature from dominating us through the Holy Spirit. The simple biblical disciplines outlined in this book will assist individuals in overcoming the impulses of the flesh by relying on the Spirit and the Word of God.
