Freedom Hold

In the Kenned Valley mining colony, Langons control every aspect of Kaylee's life. Because she is Cadorie, the Langons tell her where to live, what to do, and who to marry. To escape her forced marriage, she tries to call Freedom Hold, the mythical land where Cadorie live free. The Langons find out and she is reassigned to work in the mines.

Determined to find a better life, Kaylee runs away, searching for Freedom Hold. There, she meets Gillis and together they hatch a plan to free Kaylee's family, and their entire world. In doing so they change the lives of all the spacefaring races in the galaxy.

Langons invaded Kaylee's world one hundred twenty years ago. Although much of the world is still reasonably free, the Cadorie living in the mining colonies are slaves to the Langons.

The Cadorie are small, furry, and value the natural world. Langons are technologically advanced, self-centered, and inconsiderate.
