In 1989, Owen Davis returned from the Philippines and released Fred MacMurray on Safari, a collection of songs he wrote while serving in the United States Peace Corps. New Age Journal's December 1991 issue included the Fred MacMurray album as one of the top "sounds of substance" recordings of the year along with Queen Latifah, Joan Baez, and the Indigo Girls. Now nearly 40 years later, Davis reveals intimate details about those songs while taking the reader on an often comical and sometimes harrowing safari with his fellow Peace Corps characters and Filipino hosts.
