Super cute but the original is better

if you like the first one, you will find this one amusing also...it is cute, but the original one has this one topped. Still a cute story for your little one- mine loves both books!

Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully

I ordered this brand new release when I ordered Freckleface Strawberry which my granddaughter had heard at Kindergarten. This is equally as good as the original. The story line sends a message in a way younger children can understand. The illustrations are excellent. Julianne Moore and LeUyen Phan make a great team. This was a big hit with a 6yr. old girl and 5 yr. old boy!

I was so excited about being asked to participate in the promotional campaign for Julianne Moore's new book - Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully. One of the obvious reasons is because I've heard great things about Julianne Moore. Another reason is that I've had a great friend since we were about 7 or 8 who has red hair and I remember that he hated it while we were growing up. Now he has a daughter with beautiful red hair. The other reason is because I've had people pick on me for years for an unusual name (real name, not pen name), I've always been tall and have been 6'1 since I was 13 and I had braces for years. So, I can understand the tough time Freckleface has. I think its great that Julianne has used her childhood experiences in a way that will help children deal with the things that make them different. Hopefully this story can also help other children understand that they should not pick on people just because they are different. We're all different from one another - we're so much better off if we appreciate the differences, but it seems that is hard for some people. One rainy morning - Freckleface goes to Early Bird at her school. She loves Early Bird - but Windy Pants Patrick is also there and he's a bully. He picks on all the children - what will Freckleface Strawberry do? Come along with Freckleface and see what she does in the face of a school bully. I highly recommend this book for parents and their children. It give parents or other important adults a great opportunity to help children talk about how to deal with bullies and people who pick on them. Its also a great chance to teach children tolerance and caring about others. LeUyen Pham is back to illustrate this second book in the Freckleface Strawberry series.

A must have book for your kid's collection!

This is such a special character and an extraordinary story! I only wish that I could have had the "Freckleface Strawberry" books in my own childhood being a freckled up red head myself. I would have cherished these stories and strongly recommend them to anyone with a kid that feels different but especially if there is a little red head in your life.My three children (no red hair and only a few freckles) laugh out loud when we read "Freckleface" and beg for me to read both books repeatedly. I hope we have many more adventures to come in the future and more tales through the eyes of "FFSB", she is dear to my family!

I was delighted when Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully arrived in my mailbox. Grandchildren, Sarah and Ryan, were visiting and wanted to help me review the book. The cover is beautifully done and hints at the story inside. The first thing Sarah mentioned was the beautiful illustrations. The faces are expressive. Freckleface is an adorable redheaded girl. She loves to go to school early, so she can have extra playtime. She is very good at playing jump rope, tetherball, and four square. Sometimes they played monster, Freckleface?s favorite game. Early Bird playtime is fun, unless it is raining. If it rains, the students must play in the gym. The horrible, scary dodge ball comes out. Windy Pants Patrick throws the ball hard. He?s a bully. One day, when it was raining, Freckleface was the last person out. She realized the ball didn?t hurt as much as she thought and that Windy Pants Patrick was afraid of monsters. Sarah and Ryan both loved Freckleface Strawberry and the Dodgeball Bully. They learned the importance of making friends. They also learned that sometimes the things you are most afraid of are not really scary. Sarah said, ?I love to play dodge ball.? Ryan said, ?That bully was afraid of monsters; he wasn?t such a bad kid after all.? We give this book a 5-star rating. As a grandmother, I appreciate books that teach children to get along. Julliet Moore as a talented author as well as an incredible actress.
