Best in Class - EMS Novel

Katherine Howell has raised the bar for novels featuring paramedics as lead characters. Frantic is a fast moving crime thriller with accurate medical scenarios, assessments, and treatments. As a paramedic and parent I really connected with the personal turmoil the leach character, Sophie Phillips is thrust into when her husband is shot and her child is abducted. All fans of page turning thrillers will enjoy Frantic while they also learn about the unique challenges paramedics anywhere in the world face on a daily basis.

Another fantastic EMS thriller!

This novel, by Katherine Howell, is a great read for anyone - especially for people in EMS or any other Public Service field. Frantic grabs you from the first page, and from there on out it's a non-stop thrill ride. The main character, an Australian Paramedic, and her husband experience one of the worst things a parent can face: the kidnapping of their only child. To make matters worse, the husband is shot in the process... The writing is riveting, and Katherine's descriptions of both the Law Enforcement and EMS situations are spot on. The reader, whether in the field or not, will quickly get immersed in the events these characters experience. This was one of my favorite reads this year - I wholeheartedly look forward to reading more from Ms. Howell in the future.

Great book!

This book by Katherine Howell is a great thriller, and her true to life scenarios gave me nightmares. I could not put the book down until I found out what happened. Quick read Dawn

EMS Thriller

A great EMS-police crime/thriller written by Katherine Howell, a former Australian "ambulance officer." One of the main characters is a woman paramedic, the other is a female detective. The paramedic's husband, a police officer, gets shot and their baby is kidnapped. From that point on it is a nonstop rush to the conclusion. There are many EMS scenes -- as authentic as you will find in any book. While this is Howell's first novel, this is an incredibly accomplished thriller, filled with unexpected and shocking twists. The book has not yet been published in print in the United States, it is being published in the UK, Canada, Germany, France, Italy and Russia, in addition to Australia. Hopefully, we can look forward not only to a US edition sometime soon, but many more EMS-related crime thrillers from Howell in the future. -- Peter Canning, Author of Paramedic: On the Front Lines of Medicine
