Best Life and Times of St. Francis Assisi

The scholarship in this book is both notable and engaging. The first few chapters introduce the reader to the techniques used to uncover what life was like in the times of St. Francis and how historians separate fact from inflated. The rest is an engaging biography filled with historical context that makes 13th century Umbria come alive.
