FPGA Implementation of PV Based Hybrid Multilevel Inverter

The photovoltaic power generation is becoming more promising due to its availability and flexibility. The power electronic converters are required to process the electricity from low power to high power rating or high power to low power rating. The conventional converter does not meet the load requirement containing more ripples on the output voltage and output current. To overcome this problem the advanced developed DC-DC SEPIC converter topology was introduced. The most popular advantages of the multilevel inverter compared with the traditional voltage source inverter are high-power-quality waveforms with lower distortion and low blocking voltage by the switching devices. As the number of level increases, these advantages will be enhanced. This project proposed PV Based High Level Hybrid Multilevel Inverter using Field Programmable Gate Array. Cascaded H bridge & Neutral Point Clamped (NPC) inverter topologies are hybridized to obtain 127 level of output voltage using reduced number of switches and sources. By increasing the number of voltage level, the Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) can be reduced and hence reduction in size of the filter.
