A tween goes to an all-girls boarding school for a fresh start only to get entangled in a series of dares from a mysterious pen pal in this bestselling middle grade drama--now with a fresh new look Scarlett's got a secret--one so big her mother's shipping her off to a prestigious all-girls boarding school. There, everyone is into academics and extracurriculars, and nobody knows about what she's trying to leave behind. But Scarlett is out of her depth. Her interests (beauty, fashion, and romance novels) seem to put her at a disadvantage here, and her popular, studious roommate Crissa dislikes her immediately. As Scarlett struggles to settle in, she gets assigned a pen pal at the all-boys boarding school for class--and starts receiving mysterious letters assigning ominous tasks with threatening consequences if she messes up. As Scarlett navigates friendships, academics, her place on the basketball team she was forced into, and the mysterious game she can't escape, she realizes that maybe an all-girls school isn't so boring after all.

Well, I've looked past this book a few times at Borders. I hadn't really considered reading it until I was itching for a book and loved The Secret Identity of Devon Delaney. So I bought it and began to read it that night. I was immediately captivated by it, and my nose was stuck in the pages all night. Scarlett Northon was sent to a prestigious boarding school by her mother to escape the pain of her peers. Do to her father's secret, her social life was basically over. Her "BFF," Brianna, who had stuck by her side throughout the whole issue. Or at least that was what Scarlett had though. Her life officially over, her mother shipped her off to Brookline Academy for Girls via her college friend, AKA the headmistress. When Scarlett arrives, she is welcomed by snooty Crissa Bacon and her friends Tia and Rachel. According to Scarlett, Crissa is supposedly rubbing her face in the fact she doesn't have any friends. Scarlett is determined the change that around. During her first English class, she meets Amber. Blonde hair, homesick, father in the army, romance novel lover, Amber. Scarlett decides to work her magic, and with a flick of her makeup kit, the whole school is begging for her to work their magic on them. With Crissa getting worse every day, banned makeovers, secret English strangers, and the game Four Truths and a Lie, not to mention the stress of her secret, how will Scarlett survive?
