The story of the founding of the four nations of Alterum. Siblings Virtus and Brea struggle to keep the creatures at bay and grapple with the future of their tribe as more and more refugees flood from the South. Aestan and their tribe are under questionable leadership, who seem too eager to stay in one place for too long. Aestan and their uncle begin to question authority and think for themselves. Verfe is a young vampire with dreams of moving her tribe North and ending the creatures' siege of Alterum for good.
