Every reputable builder knows the importance of good foundations. If the foundations are anything other than strong and firm, then regardless of how well they are built upon, the building will be unsafe, and liable to crash to the ground. This is equally true for the disciple of Jesus. Such a one must have a sound, and solid, foundation if the life lived is to have any depth, and if they are to be able to resist the one who "... prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." (I Peter 5:8). It is my hope that, whilst making no claim to be a theologian, I may enable the general reader to gain some understanding of the great themes of Christian doctrine, using the words of The Apostles' Creed as a base.
