Foundation of Four

By Amber Flirtswell

When architect Nadia Cross accepts a commission to redesign a historic property, she expects a demanding project with clear professional boundaries. Instead she encounters three longtime friends whose close dynamic draws her into unexpected territory. Phoenix, Lennox, and Kieran each bring distinct strengths and perspectives to the shared ownership, and their collaborative approach to the renovation soon extends beyond construction decisions.

As Nadia lives on-site, late-night conversations and shared meals blur the line between work and personal connection. The four establish deliberate guidelines around consent and communication, allowing attraction to develop at a measured pace. Jealousy, external pressures, and the challenges of blending private intimacy with public perception test their growing bond.

Nadia's careful control over her own life begins to shift as she navigates the emotional demands of multiple relationships. The men, too, confront their habits and fears, learning to balance individual needs with collective commitment. Set against the backdrop of a transforming building, their story explores the tension between restraint and freedom, ambition and vulnerability.

The renovation becomes a metaphor for the life they are constructing together-one that requires both structural integrity and the willingness to redesign old patterns. Readers who enjoy slow-burn poly romance, workplace tension, and the complexities of chosen family will find an emotionally layered journey that rewards patience with deepening connection and hard-won trust.
