Vojislav Deri was born on November 2, 1938, in Zaplanik (Trebinje, Bosnia and Herzegovina), in a family of an educator. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism in Sarajevo. He has published ten poetry collections and four novels. His collections include: "The Boomerang Doesn't Forgive", "It Was Summer", "Harvesters of the Distance", "The Sun and the Gate", "The Cramps of Dawn", "The Stem of Tears", "The Splinters of Time", "The Plastic Color of Light", "The Dances of the Flickering Flame of Language", "The Verse That Travels Through the Space". His novels are: "In Front of the Sun, Behind the Moon", "His Majesty, the Human", "The Cloak of the Black Wind), and "The Patina of Shine". He is also involved in drawing and painting (oil, acrylic, ink, graphic art). He lives and creates in Melbourne.
