"Clear thinking leads to clear writing . . ."ÿ

Although quite technical insofar as the average reader is concerned, 'Formal Logic: A Model of English' rigorously and systematically demonstrates (and provides solutions to) the inherent fallacies of word-based argumentative structures. In order to compensate for such linguistic ambiguity, Young & Rubin demonstrate, by way of examples and exercises, that it is possible to free ourselves from the 'prison-house of language' (to quote Saussure) by converting its premisses and conclusions into symbolic logic and differental calculus-based equations. Young & Rubin also reinforce the notion that it is symbolism, and not language, that is the most feasible facet of universal communication. This book is a must for logicians, grammarians, syntactical theorists, and rhetoricians alike.
