Having been a miner for several years his father was now able to give his family a better life. They come to settle in Kendal, a university town further south. There, Chris meets Anika, the daughter of a relative of his mother, a girl called Tippy and a younger boy called Rohan. So begins a strange adventure in which the Stone, having been discovered to hold magical properties, takes the four friends into another world and they save an ancient forest from destruction by a logging company.
