Exciting, hard to put down.

A great read! One of the best pre-Civil War books I've read. Definitely a page-turner. I was amazed at the depth of the characters in this wonderfully written romantic and historical novel amidst the deep prejudices of that era. This exquisite romantic story of true, deep love and towering strength in the face of irrational hostility toward Blacks and Native Americans made me weep for the ignorance of America and the loss of the Native American's land and way of life.

This book is the best i have read in a very long time.The way the story is told with such attention to detail. Not only for the time period in which it takes place but for all characters involved.The author truly captures the essence of this story and brings it to life.i will be rereading this book for a very long time to come!
