I purchased this as I enjoy the works of some of the authors. However, this selection of short stories is atrocious. None are particularly well written or coherent. Skip this one!
Dimitri and Rose go to tell his mother he is not dead.

At the end of Last Sacrifice all I could think of was "His mother thinks he's Stragoi!!!! She had a funeral for him!! He has to go tell his mother he's alive!!"
So I needed this story a lot. That said.
I would have written it much differently. I would have made it more like a family reunion and happier. I did not need them to go hunt Stragoi to make this short story worth my time. Reading how his mother looked at him and then saw he was alive, that was what I needed this story to be about.
I did enjoy how Mark, Oksana's husband, was included though. I just wish it had had more about the family and their interactions, how the neighbors that came together for Dimitri's funeral react to him being in their midst now, and how his little nieces and nephews react to him after all they've heard about him.
I thought it would have been a good story line if Christian and Lissa had gone with Rose and Dimitri. Then Lissa would have met Oksana. After all, she did help Rose save Lissa's life and the "how" of that was amazing. Since Oksana is a Spirit user she and Lissa could have made a connection. Spirit users need to spend time together so the knowledge about it can grow.
Richelle could have even written something about Abe and Dimitri having a past, maybe they had some history. Dimitri knew of him and might have even had some connection to him from back then. Abe was around that area the whole time Dimitri was growing up.
Overall the story could have been better and more heartfelt but it was a needed conclusion for those of us who felt his mother's pain when he died.
