Julianne's Summer Rules: Finish all art projects by August Survive summer job surrounded by cute boys Hit the beach every day Avoid the new neighbors (even though their son is hot ) When Julianne falls for Remi at a bonfire party, her summer is off to a perfect start. Sure, her obnoxious new neighbors are muscling her family off their beachfront property, but she has weeks of fun in the sun to look forward to, a painting to finish, and an amazing guy to get to know. Then Jules discovers that her awful new neighbors are Remi's parents. That makes him a forbidden boy--but she can't seem to let him go. What do you do when your worst enemy is also the boy of your dreams?
I loved this book. I literally took this book to the beach. I recommend this book to those who want a light, noncomplicated and fun read filled with hot and SMART guys/girls that love architecture and art as well as some eco-friendly stuff. This book only made me want to know more about the characters and have them keep talking in their funny sarcastic manner(Julianne, the main character, and I have a lot incommon which I never found in any book I ever read). I never read this genre, and being a college graduate I needed something light. I judged the book by the name and cover (yes i judged the book by it's cover) it looked like a Gossip Girl/90210/Previliged but I was wrong. Abbott writes a pretty teen/real life story that's relatable, has substance, is fun, happy and sad as well as just the good old smiling and tearing up here and there book. The book has a minor setback. Abbott is not very clear with ages/schools/physical details. Some sentences you have to reread because you're not sure why the person is talking when clearly the paragraph was about someone else. Apart from the writing being a little amateur and sometimes lacks more details where you want more, the book is really easy and light. P.S. I didn't research the author's age or bio so I am only judging the writing from my standpoint.

Julianne falls for a boy she meets at a party at the beginning of the summer. He gives her his phone number, but without realizing it she drops it in the sand. Fortunately, they bump into each other again and the sparks fly. Then she discovers he's the son of the family who has moved next door and is trying to force her family out of their beach home -- as well as destroy the beach with their monster house in the process. Her sister declares that Remi is off limits and part of Julianne agrees. However, she sees him everyday at her great summer job. She's found the perfect guy who gets her and she's not about to let him go. So they sneak around until they get caught. How can Julianne decide between her family and the boy she loves? Hailey Abbott writes the perfect summer novel filled with love, angst, and drama. Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel

I'm in my 20's, and needed to buy a book for a 13-year-old, and got this one. I was bored so decided to read it, and WOW! It really took me back to the summer when I was 17. The writing is fantastic, and this makes me want to read all of the books by this author. The 13-year-old I gave it to loved it as well, possibly as much as me!

I bought this for my daughter, an avid Hailey Abbott fan, and she absolutely loves it. She says this is, by far, the best Hailey Abbott book ever! Very much looking forward to the next one.
