This is a story of our U.S. Marines fighting to defeat a determined enemy, working to help the Iraqi people, and struggling to protect each other on a modern-day battlefield in an ancient land. This is a story of the spirit of the American fighting man. Brian Waite's account is uplifting and compelling. There is something in this book for everyone. It talks of God and War, violence and compassion, and life and death. Most of all, "For God and Country" is filled with stories of individuals who acted selflessly in a time of madness and war. Reading "For God and Country" made me a better person and gave me an entirely new outlook on life.

Outstanding account of one man's willingness to "flesh out" his faith in God and love of country. Father Waite's gut honest story of his short fuse deployment to Iraq to back-fill for a colleague who had lost his Commanding Officers confidence is riveting. LT Waite delineates for the reader what it tuly means to be a Chaplain "of" Marines in combat. I was particulary moved by his wife's story. The family sacrafice, though not as obvious, is as real as the warriors'. This book hits me in the heart. You see, I'm the one who made the fianl decision to send Brian and several other of my friends and colleagues into harms way.

This puts the Iraqi war into real perspective

This book captures the real battle being fought in Iraq. Brian Waite's accounts make you feel like you are right there with him on the front lines. This is a book I recommend this book highly. R.L.
